Keep your golf cart cover clean.

A golf cart cover provides protection from dirt, dust, debris, and moisture. Your golf cart will last longer and stay cleaner when it’s covered with a water-resistant golf cart cover.

How to Install a Golf Cart Cover

  1. First, check for any sharp objects or corners that could place stress on the cover as you pull it on.
  2. Unzip the back zipper and open the bottom snap on the golf cart cover. Pull the cover over the top of the golf cart, with the zipper at the back.
  3. Close the zipper and snap on the back. Adjust the cover on the golf cart as needed, so that all four corners are even.
  4. To remove the cover, open the zipper and bottom snap and pull the cover off the cart, taking care not to snag it on sharp corners or objects.

How to Clean a Golf Cart Cover

Brush off any debris, twigs, and leaves from the golf cart cover. Then use a soft brush and lukewarm water to wash the cover. You can leave the cover on the golf cart while you clean it. Rinse off the cover and let it dry.

Make sure the cover is completely dry before folding it up for storage. Trapped moisture promotes the growth of mold and mildew. When you are not using it, store your golf cart cover in a dry area out of direct sunlight.

This universal golf cart cover provides excellent protection for 2-person golf carts.

Here are a few questions to ask before buying a golf cart cover.

How will you be using your golf cart cover?

Do you want to use the cover while you drive? If so, then you will need a rain cover with clear windows. A golf cart rain cover will keep you dry in wet conditions and can also block the wind.

Do you want to use the cover for storage? If so, then you will need a storage cover that is water-resistant and breathable. A golf cart storage cover protects against rain, snow, dust, and dirt.

Universal or custom cover?

The “fit” of your cover will depend on whether it is custom, semi-custom, or universal. The cheapest golf cart covers are universal. They are designed to fit different makes and models, so the fit is not as snug as a custom cover, but universal covers provide excellent coverage for most golf carts.

A semi-custom cover is more tailored to your vehicle, although you can expect to pay a bit more for this type of cover. A custom cover provides the best fit and is specifically tailored for your golf cart. Custom golf cart covers are more expensive than universal or semi-custom covers.

What size cover do you need?

To make sure the cover will fit properly, measure your golf cart before placing your order. Check the dimensions of the cover against the dimensions of your golf cart. If you have any questions about whether or not the cover will fit, contact the manufacturer first. Make sure to take into account any modifications or accessories on your golf cart that could affect the fit.

Types of Golf Cart Covers

A golf cart cover for storage protects your cart from exposure to the elements.

Golf cart covers protect your cart from exposure to sun, rain, wind, and other forces of nature that can wear down your cart prematurely. There are different types of golf cart covers available, depending on how you will be using the cover and how much protection you need.

Storage Cover

Golf cart storage covers are designed to protect your cart during storage, whether long-term or short-term, inside or outside. Prolonged exposure to rain, snow, sunlight, UV rays, and strong winds can be hard on your cart. By protecting the cart with a storage cover, you can keep the cart clean, protect the paint and finish, and reduce maintenance and repair work.

Rain Cover

Golf cart rain covers are designed to keep rain and moisture out of the cart. They have clear windows so that they can be used while you are driving the cart. Some rain covers are 3-sided, with the golf cart windshield protecting the fourth side of the cart. Other rain covers are 4-sided for use with golf carts with no windshields or to provide extra protection for golf carts with windshields.

Seat Covers

Seat covers simply protect the golf cart seats from stains, spills, and fading. They come in all colors, designs, and types of material. Padded seat covers make the seats more comfortable, and one-of-a-kind designs can make your golf cart stand out from the crowd.

Universal Golf Cart Covers

Golf cart covers are available in universal sizes or custom fit. Universal golf cart covers are affordable and provide just the right amount of protection and breathability. Make sure the universal golf cart cover will fit your cart, whether you have a 2-seater, 4-seater, or other size. Check the measurements to make sure the cover will fit.

Custom Golf Cart Covers

Custom golf cart covers are more expensive, but they are designed for an exact fit for your cart’s make and model. They may come with permanent attachment hardware, or they may just slip over the top of the golf cart. Deluxe features are available, such as hinged doors.

Why do I need a golf cart cover?

A golf cart cover creates a protective barrier between your golf cart and the elements that can damage it: rain, snow, dirt, dust, debris, and UV rays. Using a golf cart cover is a simple way to make your golf cart last longer and look nicer.

What’s the difference between a universal cover and a custom cover?

A universal cover is designed to fit a variety of golf cart makes and models. It provides superior protection at an affordable price. A custom cover is made to fit the exact specifications and features of your cover. However, this custom fit comes at a price.

Is it waterproof?

Most golf cart covers keep your cart dry in rainy and wet conditions; however, in a downpour, some moisture may seep through. Please note that condensation will form on all covered vehicles—whether the cover is waterproof or not—as a result of the thermal barrier created by the cover. To counteract this effect, the DuraShield cover includes a venting system that allows the cover to “breathe” and expel any moisture or condensation that forms underneath the cover.

Is it mold-proof?

The built-in vents on the DuraShield golf cart cover allow moisture to evaporate and discourage the growth of mold and mildew.

How do I install the cover?

Drape the cover over the golf cart with the zippered panel at the back. Pull the sides of the cover down and snug the elastic hem around the wheels at the bottom of the cart.

How do I clean it?

Brush off loose dirt and debris. Then wipe down the cover with warm water and a soft cloth or sponge. You can also use a low pressure hose to clean the cover.

How do I store it?

Let the cover dry thoroughly before folding or rolling it for storage. Store the cover in the bag provided and keep it in a sheltered, dry area.

Can I use the cover for trailering?

We do not recommend using the DuraShield golf cart cover for trailering. The cover is not designed to withstand the stress of high speed winds during travel.

Using a Golf Cart Cover Reduces Spring Maintenance

A quality golf cart cover reduces spring maintenance.

A quality golf cart cover reduces spring maintenance.

Spring is just around the corner, and it’s time to think about taking the golf cart out of storage. If you’ve properly covered your cart with a golf cart cover, your cart should be dry and clean when you remove the cover.

a

A quality golf cart storage cover should protect the entire cart from top to bottom. It should be properly vented to allow moisture and condensation to evaporate. If moisture is allowed to build up under the cover, the cover can do more damage than good by holding moisture in, where it will eventually damage your golf cart. With an effective venting system, however, the moisture has a chance to escape before causing any damage.

A quality golf cart cover should be water repellent to protect against rain, snow, and other weather damage. It should also include a UV protectant coating to keep the sun’s harsh rays from breaking down the cover’s fibers.

With the right golf cart cover, you should never have to worry about cleaning or drying out your golf cart after long-term storage. Just perform the regular spring maintenance, and you’re on your way!

Storage cover with easy-access rear zipper.

Storage cover with easy-access rear zipper.

Do you know which type of golf cart cover you need? There are basically two different types of golf cart covers: storage covers and rain covers. Here’s the difference between the two types.

a
1. Golf Cart Storage Covers

A storage cover protects your golf cart when not in use. It keeps the golf cart dry and clean overnight, during the off-season, and during storage, whether long-term or short-term.

Details:

  • Some golf cart storage covers have rear zipper for easy access to the rear storage area and/or gas tank.
  • Made from heavy duty, durable material for long-term storage in harsh weather climates.
  • Available in universal sizes, semi-custom sizes, and custom-made for your specific golf cart model.
  • Not designed for use while driving.
a
2. Golf Cart Rain Covers

A rain cover has clear windows that allow you to drive in rain and snow without getting wet. You can use a rain cover out on the golf course or wherever you work and drive. The clear windows and shelter from the weather mean you can keep playing your game, even when the weather doesn’t cooperate. With a rain cover, you can stay dry, protected, and sheltered from the wind in all types of weather.

Details:

  • Made with clear vinyl for good visibility.
  • Available in 3-sided and 4-sided styles.
  • Not designed for use as a storage cover.

How to Clean a Golf Cart Cover

Clean your golf cart cover for the best protection.

Clean your golf cart cover for the best protection.

Your golf cart cover requires very little maintenance. However, there may be times when it needs to be washed. A dirty cover may not protect your golf cart as well as a clean cover.

a

The first step in keeping your cover clean is to brush off any loose dirt, leaves, branches, and other debris. The more debris that accumulates on top of your golf cart cover, the less protection the cover will be able to provide.

The second step in keeping your golf cart cover clean is to rinse it off with a garden hose. You can either hang the cover up on a clothesline or just wash the cover while it is still on the golf cart. Hose the cover down thoroughly. Use a soft brush to remove any remaining debris, as necessary.

Once the cover is clean, let it air dry completely. Hang it up on the clothesline or allow it to dry while still on the golf cart. Do not fold or roll the cover for storage until the cover is completely dry.

Spring Maintenance for Golf Cart Owners

Get your golf cart ready for the season with these simple maintenance tips.

Golf Cart CoverSpring is here, and it’s time to break out the golf cart for another season of golf cart-friendly weather. But before your cart is ready to hit the course…or the campground or wherever you use your cart…it’s time for a spring tune-up. After sitting in storage all winter, your golf cart may need a little work to keep it running smooth for another season.

If you own an electric golf cart, your first order of business is to inspect the batteries. If regularly maintained and properly stored through the winter, your batteries should be in working condition. Check the water level in each battery cell and add water as needed. At minimum, both plates should be covered with water. Check your service manual to find the correct water level for your cart. You may also need to fully charge the batteries before starting up your golf cart after long-term storage.

Whether you do your own maintenance or take your golf cart to a service shop, spring is the ideal time to make sure your cart is properly tuned up for the season. The more you focus on preventative maintenance, the longer your golf cart will last and the more money you will save in the long run. Any time you store your cart over a period of time, including during the on-season, it’s a good idea to protect your cart with a storage cover as an inexpensive and easy way to prolong the service life of your golf cart.

Simple Golf Cart Maintenance

Filed under: Golf Cart Covers — Tags: , — Esther @ 2:18 pm

Prolong the life of your golf cart with regular golf cart maintenance.

The more you use your golf cart, the more often you should perform regular maintenance checks. Regular maintenance will keep your golf cart working longer and performing at the level you expect.

Here are some maintenance tips for general golf cart maintenance:

•  Always wear thick rubber gloves and goggles to protect yourself when working with the golf cart battery in any way.

•  Fill each cell of the battery with distilled water until the leaded plates are submerged. Use only distilled water in your golf cart’s battery. Refer to the owner’s manual for your golf cart to find out how full your battery needs to be. Maintaining the correct fluid levels in your battery will go a long way in keeping your golf car working up to its full potential.

•  Keep the battery clean. Remove dirt and debris from around the battery casing, and wipe off fluids. For battery acid spills, you can neutralize the acid with a mixture of baking soda and water. Never touch battery acid with your bare hands!

•  Check the battery connections for corrosion, debris, dirt, or any signs of damage. Replace the connections if there are signs of corrosion or other damage. Unless you are fully confident in your wiring and electrical skills, take your cart to a maintenance shop with experience in golf cart repair. You should also take it in for regular maintenance checks on the engine, brakes, suspension, tires, and other parts.

•  Wash your golf car on a regular basis to prevent damage to the finish. Use a golf cart cover to protect your cart between rides and during short-term or long-term storage.

•  Check your owner’s manual for other regular maintenance information specific to your golf cart model.

Choosing a Storage Cover for Your Golf Cart

Filed under: Golf Cart Covers — Tags: — Esther @ 11:17 am

Keep your golf cart in top condition by protecting it with a storage cover during off-season.

When it’s time to put your golf cart in storage, a golf cart storage cover will prevent sun, rain, and moisture damage, as well as repel dust and grime.

A durable, weather-repellant nylon material will keep both the interior and exterior of your golf cart clean and dry. Storage covers also protect your tires from exposure to harsh sun and weather.

Golf cart covers with breathable material or built-in air vents allow free airflow. This inhibits the growth of mold and allows any remaining moisture inside the cart to evaporate.

Most golf cart weather covers have a full-length zipper at the side or back to allow for easy access to the golf cart’s interior during storage without removing the cover.
