Spring is almost here! Time to rip off your grill cover and get ready for BBQ season. Before you start grilling, you’ll need to give the inside a good scrub-down. Even though your grill cover prevents dust and grime from building up, you’ll want to start the season out with a freshly cleaned grill.
If you don’t have any grill cleaner on hand, or if you’re just trying to be more earth friendly, you can use common household items to clean your grill rather than chemicals. Try these natural grill cleaning tricks to get all of the scum and bacteria off of your grill this spring.
#1 The Onion
For this trick, heat your grill up on high, cut your onion in half, stick a fork in it and rub the cut-side down on the grill.
#2 Salted Lemon
Another natural option: cut a lemon in half and cover the cut-side with course salt. Rub this cut-side down on your grill.
Soak your grill in a bath of coffee for an hour, once you take it out it the crud should be loosened and ready to get wiped off.
Mix 50% white vinegar and 50% water in a spray bottle, cover the grill in mixture and let sit for an hour then wipe down. Make sure that your grill is cooled when you spray it with this concoction so you don’t start a fire.
#5 Baking Soda
Make a paste of baking soda and water, apply to the grill, leave overnight and wipe the grease off the next day.
